Title: Director of Social Services

Reports to: Executive Director

Supervises: Social Services Staff & volunteers

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. –5:00 p.m. or as needed/designated

(40 hours per week)

Summary of Overall Duties & Responsibilities

The Director of Social Services has overall responsibility for providing all programs for social

Examples of Specific Responsibilities


 Trains and manages staff and volunteers who provide social services

 Ensures staff and volunteers adhere to required policies and procedures, including policies

that ensure client confidentiality.

 Oversees all grants that are authorized for clients and keeps financial records for grants

 Ensures that vendors are advised daily of payments to be made on behalf of clients.

 Oversees case management for all clients.

 Prepares accurate and timely reports and statistics on client services.

 Builds networks of referral sources for clients.

 Manages budget for department. Tracks expenses.

 Recommends to the Assistant Director any changes in social services programs, policies or


 Assists with development and implementation of new programs.

 Consults with Executive Director as needed, on performance and disciplinary issues with

staff and volunteers.

 Conducts staff and volunteer meetings to review activities and set priorities; participates in

meetings with LICS staff.

 Acts as the community social services/resource liaison

 Performs such other tasks as may be required.



 BSW or AD in Social Services and 3-5 year’s work experience

 Management experience (staff and volunteers)

 Experience in program/grant administration

 Knowledge of non-profit social services

 Computer skills (Word and Excel, Athena, HMIS, Mission Columbia)
